Contacts

These functions are for the management of your SMS Communications Manager contacts.

If you have many contacts, it is advisable to group them using client groups which you can name and provide with a short description. A contact can be associated with more than one client group.

List

List all contacts or list them by Client Group created by you.

Clicking on a contact will open up the Contact Details page for editing. All messages sent to and received from the contact are also listed.

Add

Add individual contact, set up Birthday Greeting, personal Reminder, and group the contact.

Contact name and mobile number are mandatory.

If Birthday Greeting is enabled, your pre-defined message will be sent automatically on the date and time you specified every year.

You can use Reminder to send specific message on pre-defined date and time. Enable Repeat Reminder if you would like to send the same reminder every year on the same date and time.

You can select Any or a specific device to send your greetings and reminders. The device must be connected on the date of the greeting or reminder for the messages to be sent.

Birthday Greeting and Reminders will still be sent when the Contact has opted out from Automated Tasks.

Add Bulk

Upload multiple contacts in a CSV file.

The first row of the CSV file is the header, and it is required. Valid header field names are (case sensitive):
Name, Mobile Phone, Birthday, First Name, Last Name

If Name doesn’t exist, the contact name will appear as First Name + Last Name.

Name (or First Name + Last Name) and Mobile Phone are required fields, otherwise the row will be ignored.

A sample CSV file that works with SMS Communications Manager can be downloaded here. If you are working on MS Excel, save your file as CSV (Comma Delimited)(*.csv).

Import Google Contacts

This allows you to import your Google Contacts. You can choose to inherit existing group in your Google Contacts or to create new group for imported contacts. Uncheck the Ignore Duplicate Numbers option to prevent double entry of the same mobile number.

Note that contacts imported to SMS Communications Manager are shared with other users in your domain authorized to use the service.

Manage Client Groups

Add new client group.

List existing client groups. Clicking on a client group name allows you to edit the name and description of the group.

Note: To search for individual contact, you can use the search box on the left panel.

Unknowns

Sometimes you may receive text messages from unknown senders. SMS Communications Manager will automatically add them to your contacts and group them under a client group called Unknowns. The Unknowns group will be created if it does not already exist. The contact names will be populated with their respective mobile numbers.

This is to allow users to quickly identify and edit unknown contacts.
